What you need to know about changing filters.
By Peter Wakem

- Turn off the main feed water to the system. The incoming water line can be traced by following the tubing at the inlet (pre-filter) to the first shut-off valve before the reverse osmosis (RO) system.
- Turn off your icemaker by lifting the icemaker bar up.
- Turn on the RO faucet and let it run until it is empty (approximately 2-4 minutes). Leave the faucet on the ON position.
- When all the dripping has stopped from the faucet, unscrew the pre and post filter housings (unscrew clockwise). Replace the filter cartridges.
- Make sure the "O" ring in the filter housing is seated properly in the groove. Next screw the housings containing the new cartridges back on the pre and post filter housing heads.
- Turn on the main feed water to the system and wait for the water to drip from the RO faucet. RO is a slow filling system so the faucet drip should start in approximately 30-45 minutes.
- After the water has started to drip from the faucet, let it drip for 30 minutes to one hour.
- Close the faucet and check for leaks. Wait 4-5 hours, then check for leaks again.
- Turn on the faucet and drain the tank completely. The water will not stop completely but will drip from the faucet as before. Throw out one new batch of ice cubes.
- Turn off the faucet and wait for the storage tank to refill. Turn your icemaker back on. Enjoy your great tasting purified water!
